No Bulbs

The sky is going to rain with stars, apparently, when the Leonid meteor shower passes this way on the night of Novembner 17th/18th, at least according to the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand, which is in no way offering a hostage to fortune. As long as there is a clear night, that is, observers will be able to enjoy hundreds of meteorites raining down a fiery storm on the atmosphere (probably organised by ill-intentioned people in Singapore – wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

Not sure the last time we had a clear night – well, all today it has been very windy (and pleasingly mild out) (it’s warmer in this office, too warm some might say) and the skies have been gray. Outside of Bangkok, things might be better. I do remember my time in the deserts of Sudan watching the shooting stars, er, shooting through the sky and clearly turning from rocks and burning up in the atmosphere.
